what is this oil?

Hello,

2004 130HP Yamaha V4 2-stroke

After a day on the water, and back in the driveway, I noticed a small amount of oil? on the skeg that came from the prop area.

Is this just left over 2-stroke oil coming from the exhaust??
If I wipe it off, I never see any in the driveway. Only after a day on the water.

this is oil from the exhaust. However it seems to me that it is much much more than usual. Check your oil pump connecting rod setting. Does the engine smoke a lot ?

test the fuel pump for a leaking diaphragm as well.

Doesn't look like gearbox oil (Too dark), almost looks like 2 stroke. Also is the oil normally dried out, or still runny?

If it is 2 stroke, check your mix ratio, mayb using too much 2 stroke

It might be smoking a little more than it should.
Are there manuals that explain how to "check the oil pump connecting rod setting"

I pretty much no less than nothing about this stuff.


Should I just bring it somewhere?

Nothing to worry about if it's running OK and confirmed that it isn't gear oil.

Just typical 2 stroke snot.....

just check ure intake butterflies, should be one out of sink somewhere, normally causes 1 cylinder to overfeul and that could cause the excess 2 stroke oil coming out. A good carb service should fix the trick!
