gday all,i am currently doing a full rebuild on my trim and tilt unit and need to replace the top seal on the tilt ram i have the manual but its not clear on how to get the piston off ass it spans over several models with only one rough guide picture. if any one can give me advice on how to do this it would be great as i have an 8 day fishing comp coming up and a boat in peices cheers mick

it screws off the tilt ram, you need a aluminum jig and a vise to clamp it down, then just unscrew it. watch out for the little balls and springs, also there is a little ball inside the shaft that will pop out when the piston is removed from the shaft.. make absolutly certain that it is clamped tight and does not spin when you loosen it, if the piston spins in the jig you can damage the surface of the piston...
