transom mounted pitot tube?

I have a speedometer tube that I guess is blocked on a 1993 130hp. I can not get the hole unclogged. My question is can I simply add a transom mounted pickup and tube to connect to the same digital speedometer the the factory tubing was connected to?

I would think this is the correct way to go if you cannot clear the plug.

Have you tried the drill bit with just fingers yet?

yes. I got it to go all of the in until it seams to start heading upward. I also disconnected it where it comes out of the lower unit and got a wire to go all of the way down to what seams to be the elbow heading toward the pickup hole. I pulled a vacuum on it thinking that it might dislodge it but nothing. I guess now i will try to force some water through it with a little pressure.
