  • Failing Lower Symptom?

I have a 2001 Yamaha 90 2 stroke on a 22 foot pontoon. Engine seems to run fine. Recently, after I run a while and engine gets warm, at or near max rpm, it will jump out of gear. If I sit for a bit, I can then run at near max for a while, but it will do it again. If I run at 3000 rpm's or less, seems I can run all day with no issues.

I suspect this is a sign of lower failing, but would like some opinions.

Also, are there rebuild kits for these, or is it better just to buy a new or rebuilt unit.

    Thanks,

    Gary
