Have a 250 hpdi that just stops or won't start

I had it rebuilt two years ago and last summer it developed a problem and nobody can figure it out. It will be running fine, then it either just quits, at any speed, or won't restart. It then takes a half hour to an hour and when I try it again, it fires up just fine.

The tech checked and it is getting gas, but no spark. Then it just starts up again on the twentieth attempt after he'd worked on it for about 45 minutes. Any guesses?

Run a computer diagnostic on it to check for faults and if loosing high pressure when it quits, check battery voltage.

the ign system is also a 12V system.
dump the 12V to the ECU or the ign circuits and the ing system quits.
check the ign fuse and harness for grounds and opens.
