Water leaking from thermostat housing cover

Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum.
I have a 1993 130 hp and water is leaking from one of the thermostat housing, so I replaced both of the gaskets and now both housings are leaking, any idea on what the problem might be? I was told not to use any sealant.The thermostats have been removed but I plan on replacing them tomorrow.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

either the bolts are not propely tight, or the housings cracked.

I took a look at them this morning and noticed the hair line crack in them, I must have tightened the bolts too much.

and sometimes antique things simply crack.
it happens occasionally.
