  • overheating on F225

I am replacing exhaust on F225 and found bearing in my oil pan. The engine was running hot at idle after running awhile. I thought it was due to exhaust corrosion but the corrosion was not real bad, the main problem was the gasket on the muffler was pushed down on the muffler and not making a good seal. I am wondering if the thrust bearing was bad, would that cause the motor to overheat?

if the thrust bearing was bad/missing it would knock and you would have just about 0 oil pressure.

you most likly would have excessive crankshaft end play as well.

thanks rodbolt...that is what I was told....but I am having the motor checked just for piece of mind because i do not know history of motor. I guess the money to tear it down, inspect it and put back together is worth it....any idea what is fair price for teraing it down to inspect crank, bearings, etc and put back together without performing any other work. Thanks...I am keeping fingers crossed!!!

        nope.
other than you will wear out a ratchet.
        lot of bolts.
hope your tech has a clue.
