  • New powerhead or rebuild

I bought a used bought and paid for a mechanic inspection. I was told compression was all good 187-192 psi but they thought the exhaust had corrosion. The mid sections were replaced and in doing so the starboard oil pan had a thrust bearing it. I am hoping the bearing is old from a previous owner repair. The powerhead is at shop getting "inspected." I was wondering if i should have crank turned, new bearings, rings, etc. repaired or just buy a new short block (if my heads are good) or long block if not. ANY actual experience with this problem in the past would be helpful to know!! Thanks!

Sorry, the motor is a 2002 F225 Yamaha...the exhaust actually looked pretty good was really surprised....really only had one piece that had significant corrosion near one of the water passages....I ended up replacing everything anyways to be a better selling point later as well as piece of mind.
