oiling testing

Hi,,,cleaned remote tank & repaired the connects to oil pump,,changed the little oil strainer/filter..tested with 12V & works great !!! drained SUB tank with the water catcher and would not start to fill when empty !(motor running)! hit the switch and she filled up (yee ha) is there a known test for the 3 position switch in sub tank ??? and is anything tricky about the seal on the bottom of the strainer/switch ??? running on 25-1 oil after new top piston r/r for breakin...also found bad (plugged) check valve after the discharge side of engine driven oil pump !!! 1999 OX66 250 HP.......my first post here !!! have the real shop book,,but no test procedure listed !!!
