1999 Yamaha 130HP saltwater trim indicator

My trim indicator shows full up with motor down. I have taken the switch off and checked that it is working correctly and it is. how do I adjust to indicate correctly

Need to test trim sender with ohm meter, should get 580-875 ohms between pink and black wire and 800-1200 ohms between orange and black wires as move lever up and down.

The older trim senders are mounted with a plastic ring,If that ring cracks it will not be mounted tight and gives false readings when it spins out of the original position. You may want to check that first.
