2003 HPDI stopped getting spark to plugs

testing new sideview scan on boat. started & stopped each engine a few times while motoring to determine direction of scan.
port engine failed to restart after a few start/stops. cranks but doesn't spark.

mechanic thinks its the regulator/rectifier but doesn't know how to test.

anybody know how to test?

never heard of spark being killed by battery charging system.

cant happen.
find a technician.
that motor uses a 12V TCI( transistor controled ignition) system.
its fired by inputs to the ECU from the 6 pulser coils.
when the key is turned to on, does the medium pressure fuel pump cycle?
