Which Poppit Valve?

I bought a new poppit valve to replace the one I got in an 1989 Yamaha Pro V 150. I took the old one out and it has the cross-pattern stems (old style) while the new one is blunt on one end. Which one is better to use, the old-style or the new-style?

The new style is suppose to clog less in grassy environments ( and hopefully in any other environment as well.... ). So I would say go with the new one and see how she does.

OK will give it a try. BTW, which end does the dome side face? Looking at the on-line docs for other models, it looks like the fins goes in towards the exhaust plate (inside rubber gromet)? Is this correct? I'm thinking the dome side should face the exhaust (against the rubber gromet) or am I missing something?
