can you pull the rod and piston from the bottom cylender. on a 1987 90 elth without pulling the powerhead.

you must pull the powerhead and split the crankcase.
you may be able to get it apart but not backtogether. -

thanks for the help. funds are tight right now i was looking at it today and tought i might be able to pull it out. but didnt think how to get the new one back in . i raced karts for years working on small engins . i think i can do this myself just need right tools .Comment

harmonic balancer puller and 3 8mm puller bolts.
cant think of any other "special" tools needed.
ring compressor would help but with care not an absolute.
torque wrench is a must.
8mm 12 point socket,prefferably 3/8ths drive.
if its saltwater, then oxy/acetylyne and a supply of drill bits and heli coil kits.Comment
