30hp drive sharft seal

replacing drive shaft seals on 30hp old seal have been removed new seals seem to be a tight fit at bottom of shaft should i be using any kind of grease or lube

I alaways use grease on the inner seal surfaces at reassembly,unless instructions say otherwise.
