My 2000 F100 has 150 hours on it, I got it at 77 hours several months ago.
Once in a while and always after heat soaking for ten to thirty minutes it will puff a cloud of blue smoke, looking just like a two stroke. At 100 hours I did a shock treatment of ringfree and have used it since but continue to have this concern.
Also, occasionally I notice a light tapping noise after restarting a warm engine. It doesn't always happen and is the same in neutral or in gear. Once it starts it does tend to stay for the remainder of that trip. It is also only heard at low rpm.
This engine seems to be the picture of a healthy engine, clean in the crankcase, the plugs looked great at 100 hours when I checked them. No sign of fouling, fuel or oil.
These concerns do not seem to be related as I have not noticed them occur together.
