  • Grinding when shifting on F150TXR

I had a mechanic check out the grinding noise when shifting and he said it as normal for some grinding as you shift and to shift fast. He suggested I swap out the stainless steel prop for an aluminum and the lighter prop would eliminate that grinding. Do you concur with his recommendation?

Make sure the motor is warmed up properly and the idle RPMs are down to the proper spec. before shifting into gear.
Even the Yamaha owners manuals call for a quick and deliberate motion when going into gear. The slower you move the more it will grind. try that before changing props

grinding is never normal and has nothing to do with the propellor.
its either your shifting method or something is binding.
      shift quickly and firmly.
its a slam shift mechanical clutch.
DO NOT baby it into gear.
