  • Yamaha F90 Apron; Oil Drain Tube Replacement

I'm planning on replacing the rubber tube (grommet) where the engine oil drains. The engine is a 2005 F90TLRD. Can the tube be replaced without removing the Apron? If not,iIn looking at the parts list and the service manual, it appears that I have 5 bolts at the top and 2 on the side, but will the plastic apron spread wide enough to slide it off the engine?

Just being cautious because I don't want to flex the apron and end up with a crack.

    Thanks,
    Allen

best I recall you have to remove the oil pan first.
way more trouble than its worth.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to know. I'm not going to that much effort just to replace the rubber tube.

Don't know why you want to change the rubber but let me share this CLEAN way I use to drain the oil on my outboard (so the rubber in "not necessary")

I'm going thru the boat from top to bottom replacing the minor stuff that has weathered, cracked, etc. The rubber tube has deteriorated slightly, and since it is only a few $$ for the part, I was going to replace it. That is, until I found out how much labor is required. The oil change system looks nice.

not positive on the F90 but looking at the parts diagram and from memory on some F100 and F115 motors best I recall thats about the only way to access it.
usually I knock them off at least once while reassembling the midsection after oil sump cleaning.

                dunno,takes to much time.
I use my slurrper and suck it out.
however I also do this for a living.
I have also never had a drain plug strip.
