Tilt and trim

I have a z150txrc Yamaha outboard and am having problems with tilt and trim. Up works but down does not at the helm, works fine up and down on the motor switch. I have changed the helm switch but that did not cure the problem. HELP!

Sounds like a wiring problem or a connection , need to use a meter to chase it down

not really, its rather simple.
constant 12V on the red wire at the switch,12V to blue and it goes up,12V to green it goes down.
light green and light blue trim wires are part of the 10 pin main.

Thanks for your replies, do the wires from the helm run to and through the switch on the motor? I am having a hard time tracing the wires to ring them out to find my problem.

I am not positive but I think they both land on the T&T relay, if not then they may splice together at the motor switch

they splice together in the engine harness,about 10" aft of the 10 pin plug.
the helm lt green and blue wires are in the 10 pin ign harness from the helm to engine.

Ive got the same motor and had the same problem. I tracked it down to the bend in the wiring harness at the back of my boat about 1.5-2 feet before it entered the motor housing. I just cut the old wire where it was bad and soldered the wire back together. That was 2 years ago. Havent had a problem since. Good luck.

PS i trouble shot the problem by using a multimeter and kept ohming the wire til I found an open. It was right in the bend.
