I have gone through my carbs. Seem clean. I know the next thing i should do is replace the fuel pump due to the fact that its 13 years old. But the thing that puzzles me is that the motor idles fine until i put it in gear and then it becomes rough until i give it some throttle. To add to the confusion, if the motor is trimmed up (foot still in the water) it seems to idle much better. Anyone have any thoughts on this. On this year model motor only the mixture screw setting is 1 3/8 turns out +- 1/4 turn. I checked the floats and they seemed parallel to the carb housing when I had them apart. any expertise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update. Leaned out the carbs and the motor is idling much better. I do need to replace the fuel pump if for no other reason than preventative maintenance. If anyone reading this has any ideas on the life expectancy of a capacitor discharge ignition or otherwise know as a CDI box, I would greatly appreciate it. I deal with ac and dc caps in my job and we suggest replacement every 7-8 years on ac caps and 8-9 years on dc caps. Seems this system would have a similar life expectancy. Your opinions are greatly appreciated.
