Impeller yamaha 115 txr

I tried to install a new impeller on my 2008 115. Once I got to the impeller there was a strange clamp holding it on the shaft. It was located directly above the impeller under the aluminum casing. There was no replacement in the kit and I did not figure out how to safely remove it.

Do I need this for the impeller to work? Everything I read about this repair does not show it

you can throw the retainer,collar and the 3 washers in the trash.

however now the gearcase is going to knock at low speeds.

knock the original cup out of the housing,install the cup over the impeller, use two screw drivers to pry the collar up.
remove the collar,retainer,two flat washers and the wave washer.

on reinstall,flat washer,wave washer,flat washer.

pull UP on drive shaft when tapping down the collar,,or the shaft knocks.

its all in the service manual.
