function of the yamaha F225 drive unit assembly?

hello,,
I have always been wondering what the drive unit assembly is for.
it's plugged into the main harness of the yamaha F225, and has like 5 plugs coming out. I am asking as some of the plugs dont attach to anything else.
hope someone can shed some light here.

it contains some of the regulator control circuits as well as the fuel pump circuits.
the 2002-2003 models were under recall.
can be identified by the connector colors.
what year is your unit as there were some changes,

this one has 2 blue plugs,2 black plugs,and 1 grey plug.
the gray plug is used,as is 1 of the black plugs..
but why are the others not connected?
is there a wiring schematic I can check out??
