  • 86 pro v will not stay running after premix conversion.

I got my pro v 150 back together after the conversion. I also installed a new water pump. I'm pumping water good, mixed 50:1. Very hard to start and when it does it will only run with the choke fully on. Do the carbs have to be readjusted? I'm really confused.

If it has to be choked to run then you need to clean carbs and then readjust.

Hope you did not hurt motor overheating it

Me Too, I think i'm good. It cranks good and when it starts it doesn't miss. I think it is just flooding and fowling.

          choke makes it rich.
          flooding isnt your problem.
time to do the carbs/fuel system.

Yup U R right Rodbolt. My friend/mechanic got in touch with me today. He had lost his phone, just found it. He told me to pull the plugs and squirt a little mix in the cylinders and replace the plugs. I did, it fired right up on first crank, ran 4-5 secs. Pulled a couple of the carb drains. Dry as a bone. He said during the conversion I plugged up her little orifices with oil and the carbs need a good boiling, no worries he said, Grasshopper is learning.

I do not see how the oil system would cause no fuel to get to carb bowls

Well guys feel free to laugh at me, some times we fail to see the most simple things. I had pinched the main gas line where it goes into the motor. It rund great now, smooth as silk. Thanks for all the help everyone. With my antics I'm sure I will be back.

good to hear it is running well again.
But I would be looking at getting oil system going again if you are running a tank you can not shake up and mix the fuel and oil together well in.

Dumping a bunch of oil in tank and then putting in fuel may not mix it well enough. Just an opinion

My thoughts are carrying a 5 gallon tank with me and filling it up in intervals that way.

Ok, now wait a second. I premix OX66's and have been doing it for awhile. I have 2-tanks 100-gal and 50-gal. If you can do 5th grade math you can premix correctly.

tucker, actualy most folks cannot and its a method problem not a math issue.

Actually it is not the conversion amounts that I was concerned with. I have heard many say the new oils mix well just dumping, others disagree. I am so glad my motor is running good again, I'm not taking any chances. I use the five gallon jug to make sure it mixes well. James Bond style, shaken not stirred.

why was the oil system disconnected? paranoid? urban legend? a good mechanic told you? you read it on the internet?

Actually the control unit went bad, didn't have funds to repair at this time.
