Hello all. Please could you guys help with some tech questions. I have owned several yamahas before. Last week I got a brand new F70A on a Novurania rib, for use as a yacht tender. I'm in europe but my Yamaha is US-supplied because Novurania fitted it to the boat then shipped the whole thing to me in a container.
1. The scheduled maintenance chart in the sticky thread at top of this forum says, in relation to the timing belt, "inspect/replace as necessary" every 100hrs and "change" every 1000 hours. What does this mean? At 100 hours, do you just take a look, and if no wear is visible you don't replace it?
2. I was trying to buy engine oil filters online at boats.net but two oil filters (item #11) are mentioned on the parts list, with similar but different part numbers. Which one do I buy? How am I supposed to know!
3. Does the speed sensor (60V-8A4L1-11-00, , the one than works off the pitot tube) connect to and use up one of the device ports (white) on the multihub? Or does it connect somewhere else? I'm asking because all three of my device ports are used up (Y-Cop, 2x gauges) so if the speed sensor needs a device port I need to buy another multihub and extend the network's backbone, so to speak
4. The install instructions for Y-Cop, 6YB-28107-90, page 11/section 5, give instructions on registering the key fobs. Steps 3 and 6 say turn the "main switch" off and on. What is the "main switch"? Is it just the first click of the ignition key? Or the battery isolator switch?
5. I have the flush mount premium remote control unit (mechanical) pictured below. It is mounted on the starboard face of my (small) console/dash unit, so it's in the skipper's right hand. This means it mounted kinda the wrong way round, and therefore the trim up/down switch can't be operated by your thumb. You have to use your little finger. Does anyone sell a kit, either Yamaha or some other customisation kit, to get the trim switch on the other side of the lever so I can operate it with the thumb of my right hand?
Sorry about so many questions on a first post. Really helpful informative forum, thanks, and I look forward to making any contribution I can and shopping on boats.net
