Is this the same set up you were asking about the oil alarm on?

Is this the same set up you were asking about when you said you had both the ECU and Y-COP you took to Yamaha dealers with no help?

And now you only have the ECU

Things do not sound right to me.

If it was not bought from Yamaha I am not sure what can be done.
Have no idea what a government run program would be, and what good paper work from them will help if Yamaha does not recognize the motor's chain of ownership

      Thank You

It's hard to understand the minutae of each case from these quick forum posts but as i understand it the engine is in Russia with the 2500 rpm problem. When a YCOP engine is "started" without the YCOP key fob being used to unlock it, it won't run. It will turn over, but will not fire. If you then just unplug the YCOP black box from the multihub, the engine will run, but only to 2500rpm. The ECU has inside it a message saying "this ECU has previously been connected to a YCOP box, and that box is now removed, so limit rpm to 2500"

The only way (unless you are a computer wizard) to cure this is buy new new ECU or get Yamaha to re-code the ECU, at country importer level not dealership level

Now, I do not know the fact pattern here but lots of stolen motors leave western europe every week in vans driven to eastern europe, and when they get there the YCOP motors don't run. They obviously have no key fobs because they are stolen. Therefore, people unplug the YCOp from the multihub and the engines do run, to 2500rpm. In any case where a motor is in russia and limited to 2500rpm, it *sounds like* the motor is stolen, has no key fobs, the YCop has been unplugged from the multihub, and the motor is locked at 2500rpm. Sure the owner might have documentation to prove ownership but those guys can make documentation real easily.

If in your case you know the engine is genuine and they even have the key fobs that will bleep the YCOP black box, then of course that is ok. I dunno if they do have the fobs in your case though. If they do and if they are genuine, they need a Yamaha country importer to fix the problem, as far as i know. They therefore need to ship the thing to a dealer who can get the country importer to make the fix, or buy a whole new ECU.

Sure. Paperwork is easy. Any 10 year old with a laptop and laser printer can make paperwork, right? The question is, does he have YCOP key fobs that will make the YCOP black box in his boat bleep? I would wake up and smell the coffee here if i were you: this is very likely a motor that is above room temperature.
