1997 yamaha 40 hp

I NEED TO BUY ANOTHER ONE OR REBUILD MY LOWER UNIT . THE SHIFTING SHAFT IS BROKEN. CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW BIG OF JOB IT IS TO REBUILD. also WHAT OTHER LOWER UNITS WILL FIT MINE. 20 IN SHAFT 2 cyl.

You can rebuild it and is not so hard.
I guess you have the 40X and no other model will fit.

ditch the CAPS lock.
hurts my eyes.
what model number is your 40?
the C40 2cyl had some variations that the 3cyl 40 did not.
the 40 is a simple case.

Thanks I have the C 40 P L R V model.I think I will try and rebuild seeing that it is hard to find a replacement bottom unit.I guessing there is a standard rebuild kit for this unit.
