How to replace trim seal S225txrx

I have a Yamaha S225 TXRX and I have the trim rod out of the assembly and was wondering if I can seperate the trim rod assy to replace the $8.00 dust seal? Im not quite sure how to seperate it (if at all possible). Thanks!

The piston on tilt cylinder shaft unscrews from shaft, have to put it in vise to unscrew, the seal caps on trim shaft slides off over top of shaft.

clamp the rod end in the vise.
DO NOT clamp the piston end in the vise.
sounds like dumb advice but I have seen it done before.
