2003 hard to start

my 2001 4 sroke 50 hp is hard to start the first time . After that it fires right up and runs great. Any ideas

May need to remove and clean carbs and replace diaphram on prime start on middle carb.

This may not apply to your engine but I had one of mine that used to be hard to start after setting any length of time. I finally discovered the choke was not working some of the time. Worth checking to be sure it is working.

that old of a 50 4 stroke has a funky automatic choke assy.
any misadjustment makes it very hard starting cold.
carb link and sync using a 4 channel manometer is critical as well.

Also ensure that all 4 choke butterflies moves free.
