'02 50tlrb pole/pulse???

Hi guys...putting an aftermarket tach on my '02 50 2stroke not sure how many alt. poles what pulse to set it at. If anyone knows that would be great!
also how would I go about counting the poles myself if someone could do such a thing. As you can tell I know very little about outboard charging systems...THANKS

6 pole or 3 pulse.
poles are part of the lighting coi/rotor assyl.

A service or even an owners manual would help you greatly, pick up one of each for your motor

I have both the yami owners manual, tells nothing about pole/pulse
and the SELOC manual said it was 12 pole 6 pulse ...so thats how I set the new tach but it was only reading 2800r's at WOT...
Thats why I asked how to find it on my own.

Sorry about that, I thought the owners manual had some specs in it.
But If the SELOC said that , then that is enough of a reason to pick up a Yamaha service manual and stay away from aftermarket ones

the 4 stroke 50 is 12 pole, the 2 stroke however is 6 pole.
1/2 the poles equals pulses.
