  • F225 turb do not fire

Hi I try to test-run a F225(2003); I connected the wire harness that come with the 703 side control to the plug at the engine, the motor turns but do not start; I can see the pump pulling gas but do not start. do I need to connet any other things to get the engine going?
    Thanks,
    Ed
The computer shows ECM 69J8591A02; is there a way to found if the mentioned ECM # correspond to a F225 TURB(2003)
    Thanks for your help.
    Ed

With battery, gas and main harness connected it should start. Check compression, check for spark and check condition of fuel.

No spark? Sounds like the deadman switch. Check that first.

I'm using the side mount 703 control that comes with 10 pins conector wire harness; The connector on the engine only have 9 pins, may that be the problem? on the YDS report show "land yard sw off"

There's your trouble. Sounds like you need an adapter harness. Rodbolt should chime in on this one.

10 pin on the 703 harness and 9 on the engine.
the reason you ask? the 703 fits all yamaha remote engines, even old ones with a CHOKE.
the F225TURB has NO choke, therefore 9 pins.
now you need to test spark, test fuel rail pressure.
usually its bad rail pressure due to bad gas from sitting.
just because it cranks doesnt mean its getting fuel in a cyl.

              Thanks you alls!!!

I replace the hi pressure pump(inside vapor separator) and now engine start in first key turn.
Thanks for all your help guys.

                wasnt spark afterall .
                usually its fuel.
the ign system on that engine is almost bullet proof.
thank god for the US govt marine technician stimulous program,(E-Fuels).
