  • draining vst 2009 f115. pls. clarify

apparently there is suppose to be a black or plastic tube that you need to locate in oreder to drain the vst.

i did locate a flat brass screw (that was hidden well too) that looks like a drain, which i did loosen. i don't want to remove it completely because i don't think i could get it back in with removing the intake manifold. a very small amount of gas came out.

i also released pressure at the shrader valve

anybody have additional details, pictures would be great.

the schrader valve at the fuel rail isnt the one you need.
look between the intake runners, you will see a small black rubber cap. remove that cap and depress that valve stem.
    thats the VST vent.
no need to remove the drain screw just back it off a couple turns.
if air cannot get in fuel will not drain out.
    simple law of physics.

I had the same issue on my 2007 F115.

I actually unscrewed the brass screw all the way out and it was a pain to first retrieve and then reinstall. You can only unscrew the brass screw one to two full turns before it begins to come out.

I found and removed the black rubber cap, loosened the brass screw(vapor separator drain screw), and depressed the shrader valve and the fuel started flowing. As the manual states, use a rag under the brass screw to absorb the fuel.
