    Hi to All,
    Firstly a big thank-you to Rodbolt for your advice! - The coil pulser was the problem. One of the two was not working. This according to the Yamaha mechanic that fixed the motor, was caused by incorrect (non resistance) spark plugs! She now runs like a dream!

    Guys if I can also give some advice, I had a problem with very low water pressure. The tell-tail spout on the side of the engine was barely squirting any water. I took the motor to a ‘Yamaha’ mechanic, not the same one as above, and after a complete new water pump, impeller etc, costing a whole bunch of dollars, the problem was still the same! –

    I then wrote to Yamaha Japan and they said to open the pressure release valve on the rear lower part of the motor. When I unbolted the two 10mm bolts, the cover popped off with a bang!
    Inside, the plunger and spring were caked in salt! A good wash out with “Salt Away” and I replaced the cover, spring and plunger and a new gasket and WHOOPEE! Problem solved in 10 minutes! I now have perfect water pressure! Hope this will help someone with the same problem to not spend hard earned money for nothing!

    the pulser coil problem was NOT caused by a spark plug.
    they do fail occasionally,rare but they do.
    glad you got your issues resolved.
    if everybody knew how easy this was I would not have a job.
