Can remove it but it is a very reliable system and shouldn't have to remove it.

no it did not quit.
otherwise at least 1 other cylinder would have a rod stuck.
oil failures on that engine typically show up as rod bearing failures.
piston failures are typically not oil related.
pumpm on yours has 6 nipples, they pump in pairs.
your dog needs to huntb another rabbit.
