  • Off topic, *****ing motor question

    I just got a used 24volt Motorguide Brute 567. It's a 67 lb. *****ing motor.
If I run it on 12 volts will the thrust be cut in half?

And , is that hard on the motor?

I'm asking because I ran the boat on the weekend and I'm a little disappointed in the speed. It's not much faster than the same boat with a 25hp motor.
I'm thinking I might just sell the 40hp Yamaha that I just bought and stay with the 25hp Merc. If I do that, I will need to lighten my load as much as I can.
    TIA,
    Jim

If it is a 24 volt motor I would stick to keeping 24v on it.
If it is listed as 12 and/or 24 then you could probably get by.

I believe *****ing motors now a days have electronic con*****er boards built in , and may not work properly on 12 if not designed for 12
