I was also thinking about using a Tap to notch the sides of the housing in about 6 places so that bushing can't fall down the shaft. I got this idea from a welder, which I thought was smart but not sure. What do you think? If that bushing goes in tight, what are the odds of it vibrating down the shaft with the epoxy and the notches in place? Let me know your thoughts.

driveshaft bushing?

Maybe some type of metal collar, screw clamp, spring clamp, tie-wrap or similar to slide up the driveshaft and up againt the bushing to hold it in place. A collar could be held in place with a set screw, or just a strong hose clamp, or a big strong tie-wrap around the drive shaft...lots of ways to skin that cat!

I'm thinking maybe the best way is to just leave it out instead of jamming stuff up in there. I just hope my drive shaft doesn't warp or snap or screw something up in the crankshaft or water pump area. I just wanted to know if people were successful running their engine without the bushing without doing any damage to the engine.

if Rodbolt is out there, can you please access this situation and give me your professional opinion? Thanks for all of your help everyone. I like the hose clamp idea that is made of stainless steel. This way you have a screw to tighten and the wall justs expands until totally tight against the housing blocking the bushing from falling.

Seems that screw-type stainless Aeroclamp with a stainless washer between it and the bushing might work fine...but at 5000 RPM's, maybe?....Wouldn't want that clamp to slide down the driveshaft and bugger up the top of your water pump...Hopefully Rodbolt will get on here to say, "it'll be just fine without that bushing"...if he says it, you can take it to the bank!
