  • 2001 SX225 finally got the Paul Harvey

Well I have been chasing a problem with this motor for a couple years and with my schedule I have not been able to stay on finding the problem but a few days ago someone who knows this boat and where it came from may have shed some light on the subject.
So now for the rest of the story.
I found out that the person that I bought this boat from and has since died failed to fill me in on a little bit of info about the boat before I bought it and that it sunk one night, it sounds like it was only under a few hours but went under just the same.
So the problem I continue to have is a rich, rough running, missing condition at idle/no wake speed when the outside air temp gets about 75 or warmer. It runs fine above idle but also runs very rich at higher speeds when the outside air temp, fumes will damn near run you out of the boat.

Run a compression test, check all electrical wire connections for corrosion, Check diaphrams in LP fuel pumps, test thermosensor and may need injectors rebuilt.

Did a compression test before I bought it and all 6 are 115-120#
Replaced all 3 pumps with new yamaha units
Had injectors checked and they said they all are working as they should
      Replaced the thermosensor

Checked timing at idle per rodbolt and it's good

            ohm test caps?
            tested 02 ?
            vst float sticking?

it is better to say what you've already done, first

Replaced the caps as they were original and they check to manual #"s
              Replaced the 02 sensor
Is there a way externally to see if the float is sticking open?

you say youve already done all of these items.... when ??
without testing an 02 you just replace it ?
need to test all items to find the issue, just because they were done 'recently' doesnt mean theyre all still in specs

when you replaced the o2 sensor, did you address the block and transfer tube, the o2 sensor dictates injector pulse width, for a sensor that is not monitored by the ecm this is a critical component... also tps adj. and link and sync are very important as well...
