  • 94 to 95 Engine Swap - Speedo Stopped Working

I replaced my 94 Yammy 250 with a 95 Yammy 250. The engine harness appears to be a little different as my Yamaha Speedometer stopped working and the oil level shows yellow instead of full. Anyone have any ideas where to trouble shoot or swap something around to get them working again?

    Thanks!

speedo will be a clogged pitot tube or a pinched speedo hose most likly.
yellow bar indicates either the remote tank is low,SWB failed or the circuit is open.

The remote tank is full..same one used a week prior with working results. The 95 has 2 - 4 pin connectors that look alike and didn't know if that had an impact..however, I swapped them out a number of times with the same results.

the 94 should have had round pin connectors the 95 should have square,
however it does not change the fact that the circuit for the remote tank switch(SWB) is open.
on the tank wiring the circuit is black, engine ground, and black/red ECU feed signal.
to the tach its green white.
any open circuits will illuminate the center bar or yellow lamp.
any breaks on the engine circuits will also result in no automatic oil transfer.
a break between the engine and the tach wont do that.

Thanks, I'll check into that. I can say that my 94 did have square plugs (fortunately). I believe somewhere in 94 there was a break from round to square. I manually filled the oil tank on the engine and the shakedown cruise moved the oil level towards the lower mark. I'll monitor next time out to see if it auto fills (not sure where level should be, except between marks somewhere), or maybe something is open on it. I disconnected the plug all together and the 'No Oil' alarm started (not while running though, just ignition on). I may even pull the oil out of the engine tank to test the autofill.. It worked fine on the other engine..

Just thinking, I only have one square 4 pin clearish plug on the 95 engine with one wire being pink (like the connector on the remote tank). My other engine had 2 of these and both were plugged into the engine harness. One is no longer plugged in as there is nowhere to plug it into. There is a Blue plug with 4 wires (one being yellow).. not sure what it is for, but my tach/oil level gage went bananas when i plugged it into the second 4 pin from my boat harness..

You need to post your model #s so everyone knows what motors you are talking about.
Maybe they are 94 and 95, but not for sure unless the numbers and letters show it
