prop size ?

Can the forum advise me what size prop might work best for my 3200lb. C/C boat with a Yamaha 225 2 stroke for power. I am borrowing a prop now and it is a 14.75 x 18, but does not do the job. Most if not all boating and fishing on the ocean. Was recently told that an inexpensive aluminum prop would actually be fine for ocean operation as the blade will flex to accommodate the boat and power. What is the real truth ?

Might look at performance bulletins on Yamaha's web site, Home | Yamaha Outboards to see if can find a similar boat/motor package to get idea, probably will have to look in archive bulletins to find 2 stroke engines. There is also prop selection information on different style props as well on web site.
