  • Ignition Coil Resistance 87 Yamaha 150

I have after much miss-information determined that the ignition coil of my 87 Yamaha 150 outboard should ohm out 0.5 ohms on the primary side and 2.5k ohms on the secondary side. plus or minus 10%. Ive read of other values
    online too.

My 6 coils range from 0.2 to 0.6 ohms on the primary side and 2.7 to 3.4 megga ohms on the secondary side.

The secondary side is very high.

Does anyone know if these coils can be called BAD or are they just tired or what?

I am troubleshooting a miss that I think is associated with the coils. One cyclinder is completely cutting out but not every cycle.

    Thanks!

Isolate which cylinder is missing then swap coils with good cylinder to tell if coil is bad.

      Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know what it means when the primary or seconday ohm values are so far out of specification?

      Thank you
