  • Trim "up" at side binnacle intermittent - ideas?

Another new gremlin popped up this weekend.

My trim "up" works intermittent at binnacle. Trim "down" works with no issues. I installed a new side binnacle (not because of this issue) & all connections appear good. Tried my old binnacle (top mount), same issue.

Checked at motor - both trim up & down work using cowl switch. Also can jump solenoids and both directions work.

Seems like if I move engine harness 'just right' inside cowl area. Trim up works again at binnacle.

Any ideas where to look for this loose connection or ground issue? Kinda stumped. Thanks!

apparently it is in the harness where you are having to move it just right to make it function properly

I left the door open for that...

Short of the obvious main harness, I was hoping for some areas to look, where connections might be the issue. Maybe someone had this trouble before, etc. Moving the main harness just right, might be moving another harness, I have not looked at.

Known bullet or quick connects, that may be bad, etc. Is there something I could pin out or OHM in the main harness that might help?

Not sure what motor you have, but the 2 switches tie together somewhere and go to same spot on relay.
Find where the two Sky Blue wires tie together and check for corrosion, maybe at a bullet connector or maybe spliced in harness
