I've been having some idling issues with my C40, so I pulled the carbs this weekend for a cleaning and rebuild. While I was removing them, I noticed some strange materials embedded in the potting compound on the back side of the electronic module (module located on starboard side of engine). I can't imagine that this material came from the factory, but I have no clue what it could be. Any ideas?

Hard to tell from photo, but maybe some kind of insect/spider building a nest? -
I don't think so. I should have said that the white material is hard, almost like a big salt crystal. It's actually in the potting compound; have to pry it out.Comment

I just don't have a clue on that, but if it's still working O.K., maybe no problem?...Hopefully one of the other folks on here have experienced this and can shed some light on it?...Comment

I am not sure either, but I would not be digging it out if motor is functioning properly, that CDI cost $400 or betterComment

its potting materiel.
start digging it and you may also get to do a wallet dig.
quit fussing with stuff and buy a manual.
sometimes technician induced faults can get expensive.Comment
