Engine cover interchangability

Hello, I have a 1988 Yamaha 130hp on my Boston Whaler Outrage that was purchased this year. The outboard runs very well and I have decided to do an off season facelift on the outboard.(paint, decals,etc.) After seeing a mid nineties 130hp and liking the engine cover better I was wondering if the newer cover would fit?

I know this is a longshot, but it never hurts to ask.

No the newer cowling used a different latch system.
