I just bought a 08' 21' Azure Deck Boat with a 09' F225 4 stroke this summer. Wide open, the boat runs 53-54. Does great! However, from stop to on plane seems to me it takes forever. It seems so bad, that people will jump up and run up front of the boat to get her down. I would guess it takes over 40 - 50 seconds before she planes out, with the motor trimmed all the way down. Motor seems to run fine. It idles great, has what seems like plenty of water piss'n. But, it does squeel, like somethings wrong with the belt, after running hard and bringing it back down to idle. Certain RPM - around 2800 it does that. High end RPM is around 5900. I've changed the lower end oil, changed the engine oil, changed the water seperator filter. Running a Yamaha 19 pitch prop. Motor seems to be properly set on the transom height wise. Try to run non-ethanol fuel through it (can't always find it though).
Didn't really think I had a problem, until my dad took me out on his 2001 25' sea fox center console this last weekend. This boat is fitted with two 115 suzuki's (11 year old motors). I hit the throttle and it will throw people to the back of the boat and jump up on plane.
We have about the same Horse power and about the same weight boat. Acutally, his is heavier running 110 gallons of fuel.
My Yamaha is still under warrenty. Do you guys think something may be wrong, or is this normal?
