anode or trim tab

hi, first time here on this forum,i have a 1986 150etlj thats missing the trim tab/anode on lower unit. went by dealer the other day and he said it was probably just a flat plate style for prop clearance issues instead of a trim tab with fin on it style. i dont remember what it looked like
the bolt is there and nothing else. if i order trim tab style and it interfers with prop can i remove/modify it without any problems? thanks
