  • I think I screwed myself: Yamaha 40 2 stroke 3 cylinder

Long story short I had several outboard 40 parts and mixed and matched and screwed up which carbs go with which cdi box and stator coil.

So know I have a 40 hp power head .030 over, 1 mm shaved head, 50 hp carbs and 50 hp tuner. CCMS Reeds.

My CDI box was a push to advance and my carbs are pull to open, so when everything is hooked up I am running full advance at idle and as I progress the throttle I retard the timing.

I have heard about disconnebting the cdi box and leaving it around 21-24degrees advance...how does the effect idle and midrange throttle...

Question is what is the setting mark definitions on the 6H5-85540-02-00 Box, my Clymer manual does not show it well.

This motor is on a 14' Flats boat that weighs about 320#

    TIA

Problem solved, just did some creative linkage modifications and reversed the throw from the throttle linkage and had to spin tps indicator arm 180 degrees and massage the hole a little to fit.....

Revs like a champ and my neighbors are pissed....

      That's Great

It's always a nice feeling when you can unscrew yourself.
