1990 motors with newer gauges plugs don't fit

HELP!!! I am trying to install yamaha new gauge package on my boat with twin 1990 two hundreds. The gates look the same on the face but the plugs from the engine harness don't plug in to gauges...was going to cut off ends but color code is different is there a color code I can go by some colors match on plug but other colors don't ...should I put them in the same location???

Thats not much information to go on without knowing exactly what gauges you have or gauge harness, if it's Yamaha Multifunction gauges with two square connectors going to engine then use
6N7-82541-00-00 Trim Adapter, square connector to bullet
6E5-82541-10-00 Oil light adapter, square to round connector
