Installing Resistor Spark Plug Caps?

I'm installing the oil control module upgrade to a 1998 Yamaha 115TLRW, pn 6E5-WS857-00.

The procedure says to replace the spark plug caps with the enclosed resistor caps.

Does anyone know how to replace the spark plug caps with the new caps and what's the purpose of the resistor caps?

in the words of most japenese engineers, why you need to know?
pull off the old caps and springs, cut back the wire slightly, screw on the resistor cap.
the cap helps develop the spark while keeping down radio interference.
