1998 yamaha 80 hp hard to start

My 1998 90 hp is hard to start. I pump up the bulb, push the key in and it cranks but will not start. The only way I get it to run is to engage the emergency choke switch on the carb. It cranks up and will cank after that if the engine is still warm. WHen i push the key in I do not hear any clock back at the carb or anything. it runs fine except for this nagging problem. Any ideas?

I'll be watching for an answer, my '94 70hp also has to be started by manual choke. Not a huge problem as it can be reached from the seat.

98 90hp is prime start engine and key switch has nothing to do with choke.
Need to remove and clean carbs and check prime starter.
