92- 90 hp yamaha

Have a 90 hp yamaha was running great then lost power and red oil light came on -returned to dock and shut down -looked to using oil but had just topped off oil prior - restarted later and could not see usual smoke from exhaust - most likely oil pump?

most lilky a faulty tank switch.
no flow alarms on that engine just oil level.
no alarms at all associated with the pump.

Does the oil level switch low alarm limit RPM?

thank you, the next day it didnt happen again will check oil flow and repace switch if it returns
