  • 99 F50 gauge wiring

I bought a new boat. I kept my 99 F50 4 stroke and put it on my new boat. Long story short, I disconnected wires to make removing the gauges to the old boat easier and to re-install them.

Well, I am the fool. I can not figure out the wiring now. Coming from the 703 unit is a yellow, blue, black and green.

The only part I am sure of is the harness that comes out of the T/T joins with the tach.

I have yellow wires, yellow wires with red stripes, blue wires, black wires, and a black wire with a red stripe. I am at the point where I don't even believe myself that the black wires all join together and the same with the blue wires. I am just at a total loss

    How do I re-assemble?

search for "yamaha wiring diagrams" i found them for a 90hp and 704 control. or search 703 control wiring diagram. print them and your good to go!

u can also find a repair manual online for your motor that has wire harness and shows t/t,tach ignition etc. i bought 1 on cd for 8.00 and had it in 3 days.
i dont think it shows the 703 control, but all the wire colors are there and you plug in the connectors or butt splicing the wiring to control.

I wish it was that simple, and I know I have the manual around here somewhere, but when I need it, I can't locate it.
What I am just stuck on are these two yellow wires with red stripes and one black wire with a black stripe. The blues, blacks and yellows join together. The two harnesses join together, I am just stuck on these few wires. I have done searches but I hit dead ends, so I am turning to this forum for help

See if this will help Wiring Color Codes for YAMAHA Outboard Motors.

Never heard of a black wire with black stripe, not sure how you could see the stripe

Wires are hooked up, I have the backlights working. New problem, the trim gauge reads all the way up no matter the position, no red light/idiot lights on the tach for oil and temp. Any ideas?!

Check the trim/oil harness is connected to engine and to tach.
