I have a cobia 224 with a yamaha 0X66 200 hp engine. I find I must prime the engine with the priming bulb until the bulb is firm to start the engine, after this the engine will start up instantly and run without any hiccups. This is true even if the engine has been running for an hour or more and then is shut off for a few minutes. Is this a idiosyncrasy for this engine? It seems the fuel pressure should be enough to keep the engine fed, or perhaps it is normal for the fuel to drain back out of the fuel filter (the clear glass bulb) under the cowl? Or is this a fuel pressure problem I should investigate?

The VST should contain enough fuel to start engine without repriming, are you tilting engine up after shutting off?
Might need to replace anti-siphon valve at gas tank to help keep fuel in fuel hose. -
even tilted it cant drain the VST.
the needle valve aill act as a siphon break and the VST holds almost a quart of fuel.
